Glass Pool Fencing

Glass Pool Fencing – Frameless & Semi-Frameless

Clean lines, unobstructed views, and full pool safety compliance. Our glass pool fencing range covers frameless and semi-frameless systems — stocked in Sydney and available for pickup from Chipping Norton or delivery across Australia.

What is Glass Pool Fencing?

Glass pool fencing is a safety barrier made from toughened safety glass panels, mounted either in ground spigots (frameless) or a lightweight aluminium frame (semi-frameless). It meets Australian pool safety standards under AS 1926.1 while keeping sightlines open — so you can see your pool from anywhere in the backyard.

It's the most popular pool fence choice for new residential builds and renovation projects across NSW: durable, low-maintenance, and genuinely better looking than the alternatives.

Frameless Glass Pool Fencing

Frameless glass pool fencing is the premium option. Individual toughened glass panels are mounted directly into grade 316 stainless steel spigots — no vertical posts visible above ground. The result: a completely unobstructed view of the pool from any angle.

  • Glass: 12mm toughened safety glass
  • Spigots: Grade 316 stainless steel (marine-grade)
  • Panel heights: 1000mm, 1200mm standard
  • Gate: Self-closing, self-latching frameless glass gate included in kit options

Best suited for: new builds, renovations where appearance is a priority, pools with a view, elevated decking installations.

Semi-Frameless Glass Pool Fencing

Semi-frameless glass pool fencing uses slimline aluminium posts spaced at intervals, with toughened glass panels between them. A practical choice when you want the glass look at a lower installed cost, or where the ground conditions don't suit in-ground spigots.

  • Glass: 10mm or 12mm toughened safety glass
  • Posts: Powder-coated aluminium in standard colours (black, white, silver)
  • Panel heights: 1000mm, 1200mm standard
  • Gate: Self-closing gate available to match

Frameless vs Semi-Frameless — Comparison

  • Appearance — Frameless: No visible posts — cleanest look | Semi-Frameless: Slim posts visible at intervals
  • Glass thickness — Frameless: 12mm | Semi-Frameless: 10mm or 12mm
  • Installation — Frameless: In-ground spigots or core drilled | Semi-Frameless: Surface-mounted posts
  • DIY suitability — Frameless: Moderate (requires precise setting) | Semi-Frameless: Easier
  • Cost — Frameless: Higher | Semi-Frameless: Lower
  • Best for — Frameless: Premium builds, pools with views | Semi-Frameless: Practical installs, timber decks

Pool Compliance & Safety Standards (AS 1926.1)

All glass pool fencing in Australia must comply with AS 1926.1. Key requirements: minimum barrier height of 1,200mm, non-climbable zone on the external face, self-closing and self-latching gate opening away from the pool, and no gaps exceeding 100mm between panels or beneath the fence.

Maintenance & Longevity of Glass Pool Fencing

Glass pool fencing is one of the lowest-maintenance fence types available. Toughened safety glass does not corrode, rust, or require repainting. The main maintenance task is periodic cleaning — a wipe-down with a glass cleaner or diluted white vinegar removes water spots, mineral deposits, and general grime. In coastal areas where salt spray is common, clean more frequently to maintain clarity.

Grade 316 stainless steel spigots are marine-grade and highly resistant to corrosion, but they benefit from an occasional rinse with fresh water and a light application of a protective spray to keep them looking their best. Semi-frameless posts are powder-coated aluminium — a wipe-down is all that's needed.

For damaged panels, individual glass panels can be replaced without dismantling the entire fence run. If you're unsure about a cracked or chipped panel, take it out of service immediately — toughened safety glass is designed to shatter into blunt granules if it fails, but a compromised panel should not be left in place.
