Pentaforce vs Irius: Choosing Tamper-Proof Security Screws for Your Fence

High-security fixings

Fixings nobody else can undo.

Our Pentaforce and Irius tamper-proof security screws use patented drive patterns that standard Phillips, square and hex bits can't turn. Each is a 12G self-drilling tek screw sold in boxes of 250, with its own matching drive bit, for fencing perimeters, roofing and cladding.

A security fence is only as strong as the screws holding it together. If a sheet or panel can be unscrewed with a cordless drill from the local hardware store, the fence won't stop a determined thief or vandal for long. Security screws close that gap: they go in fast with the right bit, and stay put against everyone without one.

Why choose security screws

Pentaforce and Irius screws both use a patented drive that only engages with its own matching bit. Off-the-shelf drivers either won't seat in the head or simply spin, so the screw can't be backed out with standard tools. Both are self-drilling tek screws, so they fix straight into steel sheet, roofing and cladding with no pre-drilling.

They suit perimeter fencing, commercial security fencing, schools, parks and public sites, construction compounds and any building where theft or vandalism is a risk. Choose Pentaforce in black for dark fences, or Irius in galvanised for a low-profile, clean-headed finish.

Frequently asked questions

What is a tamper-proof security screw?

It's a screw with a special drive pattern that common bits can't grip. It can only be installed or removed with the matching security bit, which stops casual theft and vandalism.

Can I remove Pentaforce or Irius screws with a normal screwdriver?

No. Phillips, square and hex bits won't engage the patented drive. You need the Pentaforce #2 bit or the Irius bit to drive or remove them.

Do I need to buy the drive bit separately?

Yes. Screws are sold in boxes of 250 and the matching bit is sold on its own, so order one bit per installer.

What's the difference between Pentaforce and Irius?

Pentaforce has an inner pentagon head in black powder coat to suit dark fencing. Irius is galvanised with a low-profile ribbed head and no visible drive, for a cleaner look.

Do I need to pre-drill holes?

No. Both are self-drilling tek screws that fix straight into steel sheet, roofing and cladding.

Are these screws suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. Pentaforce screws are galvanised and powder coated, and Irius screws carry an AS3566 Class 3 coating for corrosion resistance outdoors.
