Locinox B-Safe: The Safety Cable Every Heavy Gate Needs
In store now: gate safety
The safety net every heavy gate needs.
A heavy swing gate is only as safe as its hinges. The Locinox B-Safe Safety Cable ties the gate to the post, so if a hinge snaps, corrodes through or takes a hit from a vehicle, the gate is held instead of crashing to the ground. Rated for gates up to 500kg, with a stainless steel cable rated to 1000kg.
Most gate hinges are never thought about until the day one fails. On a big driveway, school or commercial swing gate, that failure can drop hundreds of kilos onto whoever is standing nearby. A gate safety cable is a small, cheap part that turns that worst case into a gate that simply hangs in place. Here's how the B-Safe works, where it belongs and how to fit it.

Why choose the Locinox B-Safe
The B-Safe is a short loop of 5mm stainless steel cable with an anchor at each end. One end fixes into the gate post and the other into the gate frame, just below the hinge. In day-to-day use it sits slack and out of the way. If one or both hinges let go, through wear, rust or a car, truck or forklift knocking the gate, the cable takes the load and stops the gate dropping or falling flat.
Hinges wear, corrode and take knocks, and on schools, commercial sites and public-access entries a falling gate is a serious injury risk. The B-Safe is a simple secondary restraint for heavy, high-infill and compliance-critical swing gates, from high-end homes to industrial yards, and it fits new or existing gates with no welding.

Frequently asked questions
What does a gate safety cable do?
It links the gate to the post as a secondary restraint. If the hinges fail, the cable holds the gate so it can't drop or fall flat onto people or cars.
How heavy a gate can the B-Safe hold?
It's rated for swing gates up to 500kg, even if both hinges fail. The stainless steel cable itself is rated to 1000kg.
Do I need to weld the B-Safe on?
No. It uses Quick-Fix anchors that lock into a 15mm drilled hole, so it fits new or existing gates with a drill, hex key and spanner.
Where should the safety cable go?
Fit it about 50mm below the hinge, with one hole in the post and one in the gate frame, at least 18mm from the edge of each profile.
Does it work on sliding gates?
B-Safe is designed for swing gates, where the hinges carry the gate's weight. Sliding gates run on tracks and need different restraints.
Is the B-Safe suitable for schools and commercial sites?
Yes. It was developed to secure gates in line with EN 12604 and suits schools, public-access entries, commercial and industrial sites where a falling gate is a serious risk.
