We have three types of screws in our line of products at Fencing Components: metal, timber, and bugle batten. It might be hard to figure out what you're looking for at times, so let us explain how the naming system works and the differences between the types below.
How does the numbering/naming work?
When looking for screws, products are numbered by;
- Diameter (or the bit size by gauge),
- Number of Threads per Inch (for general use not very important), and
- Length (depending on if you're mounting a bracket to a post, or a post to a wall).
For Example, typical Colorbond Screws are 10-16x16. Therefore, it is 10mm Gauge, 16 Threads per inch & 16mm in Length Metal Screw.
Timber and Bugle screws are both for timber/wood, with the sole difference being the heads. Timber screws, like metal screws, have hexagonal heads, and Bugles Batten require an Allen drill bit which the screws penetrate into the timber, leaving a flush finish.
Metal / Tek Screws
The 20mm screws come in a variety of colours to match the fencing!
